Tierra del Fuego

In the Tierra del Fuego National Park you will encounter dramatic scenery including glaciers, waterfalls, beautiful lakes, forests, mountains and the icy waters of the Beagle Channel. Unlike the other Andean Patagonian Parks, the forests lie close to the sea coast offering unique marine, plant and wildlife. The park covers 63 000 hectares, running from the Beagle Channel along the Chilean border for 60 kms, protecting the southernmost part of the sub-antarctic forests. Mountain ranges in the park lie parallel to each other, creating beautiful valleys, which can be hard to access. You can reach the park from Ushuaia, the Southernmost city on the Western hemisphere, on the End of the World Train, a tourist stream train that runs over 5 kms.

Along the Beagle Channel, you may spot Southern Right, Southern Bottle-Nosed, Sperm, Minke, Sei, Fin and Humpback whales, dolphins, porpoises, penguins and albatross, amoungst many other rare marine and bird species.

There are various trekking and activity options available within the park including camping, sport fishing, bird watching, yachting and cross-country skiing in Winter. There are numerous footpaths from which to explore the parks attractions.
