Rosario
Rosario, the birthplace of Che Guevara, buzzes with art galleries, skate parks, sports clubs, coffee shops, sidewalk cafes, museums, bars, clubs and restaurants. Rosario lies on a bend in the mighty Paraná River about 300 km northwest of Buenos Aires. The city has a laidback, vibey feel, and the Rosarinos are a down-to-earth and friendly bunch. Interestingly, yoga and Hinduism are big in Rosario, where Indian culture in all its color and glory has been embraced.
Family is very important in Rosario, and the locals gather regularly to have parishas, the barbecues that are famous in Argentina. In Summer the river, beaches and Islands are enjoyed by all. On weekends friends and family hang out along the riverbank. People are friendly and easy-going, and can be found cycling to work or uni, or scooting about on motorbikes.
On practically every corner you will find a coffee shop serving excellent coffee. Rosario also has a vibrant arts and culture scene. You will find tango lessons all over the city, as well as good cinema, theater and live music. Remember, when dancing Tango in Argentina, the guy asks the girl to dance, with a simple meaningful look. If the girl would like to dance, she looks back, and then puts her eyes down - and hey wow, tango!
Rosario is fed by student populations from thousands of surrounding towns and villages. Thus, you will find a dynamic, vibrant atmosphere during study times and a varied social scene.
Public transport is inexpensive and widely available. You can catch cheap buses anywhere practically anytime of day, and taxis too. University students attend night classes, so it is not unusual to see students wandering straight from class to one of the many busy bars in the city, or to one of the local eateries or sidewalk cafes for some of the yummiest pizza around.
